Duolingo & Think Company: Diversity, equity, and inclusion


Duolingo

  • I launched a program within Duolingo to support female-identifying, nonbinary, queer, and/or brown folks in Design 

  • I advocated for several process changes to help:

    • Prevent/mitigate unconscious bias in hiring and advancement

    • Improve inclusive representation in Duolingo art

Think Company

  • I persuaded the executive team to make a significant investment in hiring a consultant to help the company improve diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • I designed ways to include all employees in this effort, while also not pressuring people with marginalized identities to shoulder the burden of this work

  • I sparked a widespread understanding of inclusion as crucial to the direction of the company
